Ravenscraig 275 KV

Ravenscraig 275kv sub-station in Lanarkshire serves a number of key network customers including Dalziel Steel Works.  The sub-station comprises a control building, unit sub-station and a transmission compound.  IQA was tasked with identifying and extending the existing LV cable from a redundant transformer within the compound through the compound cable trench into the unit sub-station to the termination point.

The installation comprised joining of the existing T1 cable to the new cable supplying the unit sub-station and re-termination to the LV board within the control room and the termination at the unit substation cable head.  A new cable tray containment system was installed to support the cable and a switch fuse was installed within the unit substation. In addition earth spikes for both the high voltage and low voltage systems were installed.  All work was completed in compliance with the client’s safe systems of work and under the scope of a safety document utilising suitably skilled and authorised IQA personnel.  IQA completed all works in advance of the client’s deadline for completion.
