IQA Utilities work in many local housing association properties across Scotland to provide earthing upgrades. We replace old VIR/ MICC supply cables with new split concentric Low Smoke Zero Halogen cables in order to provide thousands of domestic customers on Scottish Power's network with improved supplies.
The need for this is identified either by our isolator operatives, who carry out an earth loop impedance test in each property they visit, or the councils themselves. Case Study
A typical example of this would be for North Lanarkshire Council who have an extensive Kitchen, Bathroom & Rewire programme. These contracts are split into areas North, South & Central in batches of about 300 properties. Prior to these contracts starting NLC request isolator switches to be installed, from these installations it is identified if an ‘earth upgrade' is required.
One case in particular was Central Contract 17 in the Airdrie area, a total of 278 properties. This contract had a large number of earth upgrades required. We worked closely with NLC's contractor & planned our works in conjunction with their programme. By increasing our resources we were able to complete the works well ahead of schedule.
