IQA is currently installing some 250-300 switches per week working ahead of the Local Authority modernisation contracts.
The purpose of the switch, which will either be a 2 pole or 4 pole depending on the metering tariff, is to allow for the safe isolation of the customer's consumer unit and internal wiring.
This work is a vital part of most Housing Associations' development programmes and we would be grateful if tenants selected for this work could clear the area around the electricity meter to assist our operatives in fitting the switch. The average time for this work to be carried out is an hour in which time the electricity will be disconnected.
IQA fit mains isolator switches on behalf of the Network Provider in conjunction with various Local Authorities across Scotland, North West England and Wales.
Case Study- Housing Association Isolator switches
Recently IQA was contracted on behalf of Scottish Power to install in excess of 2000 switches for a large Council in the Lanarkshire area. The Council had appointed a contractor to install new Kitchens and each property required an isolator switch prior to the work being carried out. The project had a tight timescale and excellent communications were critical to the successful delivery of this project.
IQA has a dedicated office team who coordinate and programme isolator switch installations through telephone calls or by letter. Our electronic web-based management system also allows for improved flexibility in programming with real time data available on operative whereabouts and job status.
