Training

IQA constantly monitors and assesses the competency of its electrical operatives at regular intervals. The staff development takes place in the instruction room at our head office in Paisley.

The operatives are tasked to complete a series of metering systems with varying tariffs and earthing arrangements and must demonstrate how to carry out the following tests:

  • Insulation Resistance
  • Continuity
  • Earth Loop Impedance
  • Polarity

The operatives also have to identify a series of defects on pre wired fault boards and describe the correct course of rectification in relation to the faults identified.

In addition to the in house assessment, all IQA operatives have to complete written assessments based on the Scottish Power safety rules handbook and in line with the level of authorisation they currently hold. Other development and certification held by IQA operatives may include:

  • H&S Awareness
  • Manual Handling
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Safety Passport
  • PASMA (scaffold)
  • First Aid
  • NICEIC, Select approved Electricians
