Since 2018 a dedicated team within IQA has been working with Elecnor on the upgrade of two major substations in Angola. The refurbishment of these two sites is part of an Angolan government initiative that will completely transform the electricity network in one of Africa’s most rapidly-developing nations, harnessing the power generated by a series of new hydroelectric dams that will bring cleaner and more reliable power to the sprawling capital city Luanda, as well as the facilitation of rural electrification, giving power to areas in the country’s expansive tropical interior that are otherwise without.

This project is partly funded by U.K. Export Finance (UKEF) and is the first of many such ventures that we at IQA will look to undertake in Africa. Working closely with our parent company Elecnor, we are sourcing high-value equipment from U.K. manufacturers which is then exported and installed on site.
